Visionary Student Leader Award Application/Nomination
The Community Service Council Visionary Student Leader Award seeks to honor a Student at Georgia Tech who has exemplified the ideals set forth by the Council. This student will be one who has demonstrated and acted upon a sincere vision of community service, service learning, or civic engagement. This will be a student who has creatively tackled obstacles and remained dedicated to achieving his or her goals. Most importantly, this student will have the ability to achieve a confluence of civic engagement and community service in order to maximize his or her overall impact and enact deep, lasting change. This student will have communicated effectively with community partners to ensure that community needs and prioritized shaped the actions of the student or the student’s organization. As a result of these characteristics, this student will be one who is committed to meeting immediate community needs as well as promoting a lasting change in social conditions.

3. Demonstrated ability to address immediate needs of a community as indicated by evidence of a dialog with community partners
4. Sustainability of projects and/or organizations
5. Creativity in project design and addressing obstacles
6. Ability to achieve a confluence of community service and civic engagement to address all facets of an issue and maximize overall impact
7. Student need not hold an official position in or be affiliated with any organization

Questions for the Applicant/Nominator
Please limit total response to 750 words (shorter is ok!). Address as many of the questions below as possible and include any other relevant information.
1. Describe the nominee’s vision and explain the strategies he or she has used to implement it in the community or at Georgia Tech.
2. Give an example of how the nominee has used dialog with community partners to shape a project.
3. How has the nominee been creative in designing projects and addressing obstacles?
4. Discuss the nominee’s ability and efforts to promote lasting social change. Be sure to include concrete examples.
